Dinner time!

Zion Press -- Cooking dinner has always been a joy to Sarah Winchester. The mom of five rambunctious children thrives on putting healthy and fun meals together for her brood, and having to do it seven nights a week, 31 days a month, for two and a half months hasn’t dimmed her enthusiasm. In the past, one of the children would help each night, rotating through, so all could learn to cook, but between home schooling and working from home, Sarah decided she would catch them all up during summer and just do it all herself. Her husband, Jeff, lights up the grill a few times a week, but as he is also working from home, has managed to misplace every clock and alarm he ever owned and works through dinner.

Tuesday, she pulled out individual meatloaves, flattened per the children’s request, complete with tomato glaze, presented beautifully on a serving dish rimmed with parsley, alongside shells au gratin, and haricot verts, perfectly trimmed and even. Wednesday, her family “awwwwed” at the chicken breast carefully coated in a panko breading, in small bite sized pieces, with pomme de terre slices, crisped up perfectly and a charcuterie tray artfully arranged.
Tonight, upon entering the kitchen when Sarah sent the eagerly awaited call, her children cried out, not as gleefully as she would have hoped, “Leftover hamburgers and chicken nuggets again? Seriously?”
